2019 Trends in Event Decor
Event design has evolved over the years with
modern, unique, chic and eclectic trends emerging, that seek to meet Client
needs by sparking interest and delivering memorable experiences. The following
are emerging design trends for 2019 that I believe are impactful and innovative:
Bold Tablescapes
A beautifully decorated dinner table has
always been a major element of event design. As Client expectations continue to
rise, Designers are moving away from standard minimalistic patterns to
eclectic, mismatched and textured table treatments that assist in elevating the
guests’ dining experience. Bold floral arrangements, flatware and glassware are
used to complement theme-inspired china.
We will continue to see metallic pieces in
2019 as gold, silver, copper and metallic hues of standard colours continue to
make waves in event design. Metallics are versatile and can be used to add glam to vintage looks or modern sophisticated settings. The shiny texture can be seen in furniture,
flatware, prints and even long-time accents such as decorative balloons.
The use of marble in event design is a
growing trend that will continue into 2019. The elegant texture looks best paired
with matte and neutral colours and adds a modern look to any event space. Marble
has been used in signs and prints, tablescapes, furniture, cake décor and other
accent pieces.
Geometric pieces add depth and intrigue
to event décor and has been evolving in recent years, from candle holders and
centrepieces to stand-alone statement pieces, photo booth design and elegant
ceiling fixtures. This is a trend that will continue to evolve in 2019.
Regardless of your personal taste, the diverse and dynamic nature of event design
makes it an exciting industry for anyone who loves all things beautiful and balanced. What is your favourite trend from the list above? Let me know in the comments below.

Hi Kadian, The topic to me sounds really cool. The upcoming event decors you have mentioned above are really interesting to read about. I really liked the second option of "Shiny Metallic". It looks so Rich. However, it could be too expensive. But for a high budgeted event, i would love to steal this decor from your blog to my event. Thank You! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Raj. Thank you for your response. I am happy that you love the shiny metallic design and would love to use it in the future. I have noted your concern about cost and would like to highlight the two pictures used in the blog as the potential solution. One picture shows gold furniture, which is definitely a more expensive option. However the other is a mixture of both metallic and plain balloons. This can be an affordable way to incorporate the metallic design in your event as the metallic balloons, while more expensive than your average balloons, are very affordable in comparison to other metallic decor elements and are great for life cycle events such as birthdays, showers, graduations, anniversaries and other special occasions. I suggest you look into it.

ReplyDeleteHello Kadian!
ReplyDeleteIt is an awesome topic for your blog, specially to know about the trends for this year and always offer the best decor for the clients. I cannot select a favourite one if I was a client, but I wish I could create a combination of all of them and create a new decor, it would be unique! Thank you for sharing this topic with us and I hope you keep posting about amazing topics!
Thank you for your response Deborah. I share the same sentiments, I love them all. It can be very difficult, when provided with so many beautiful options, to choose just one of these design trends for your event. I think it all depends on the type of event and how the event flows. A wedding for example is an event that all of the designs above could be incorporated in without being overpowering. The key is for the event designer to be strategic in where each element is placed and how it ties in with the ambience and purpose of each space/area.

Thanks for your response Anchal. I am happy you liked this topic and see where the designs above can be used in your future events. It is my intention to continue blogging about trends in event design as there is alot more to cover such as production, accent pieces and favours which have all grown and evolved throughout the years. I hope you will continue to enjoy the blog.
DeleteThank you for your response Dweep. I must agree that event decor is one of the most important elements in event execution and is also an element that the planner has to look closely at when assessing the environmental impacts of the materials used to execute the event. I think the issue that planners will have is bridging the gap between environmentally friendly materials and aesthetically pleasing designs.

Hi Sabrina! Thank you for your response. The beauty of the designs I have described above do inspire us to be creative in our own homes, whether we are setting the table for dinner or having friends and family over for a special occasion. They can be applied to decor for your small, intimate celebrations such as birthday, anniversary, bridal and baby showers just to name a few and even to home decor for seasonal celebrations such as halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas. I hope you're inspired to get creative with the decor for your next event at home.
